Position Available: Library Assistant, Part-time
Work Week: 15-17 Hours

Under the supervision of the library Branch Manager, performs the duties of part-time library assistant.
Job Duties:
The following is a list of representative duties, and as such, is not meant to be all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned as related to the essential tasks. This job description may be modified from time to time as needs arise and position requirements change.
Sorts, shelves, relocates, and searches for library materials
Reads shelves for accuracy of order, re-shelving materials as needed Straightens library shelves as needed, checking each day while on duty Provides directional information to library patrons
Provides PINES circulation desk duties, including: check-in, check-out, and patron registration
Follows oral and written instructions or directions given by supervising staff Provides courteous and accurate customer service to patrons, using good judgment and seeking the help of a supervisor as necessary
Alphabetically and numerically sorts library materials for shelving in an orderly manner
Other duties as assigned by the library branch manager
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate required, Associate Degree preferred. Computer skills required. Cash handling experience preferred. Must have the ability to speak clearly, hear, and use proper telephone etiquette. Must be able to effectively read and understand information contained in memoranda, reports, and bulletins. Ability to lift objects, supplies, and files up to 25 lbs. is required.
